The functions of GST include:

  • To produce, maintain, archive and disseminate national geo-scientific data and information.
  • To conduct environmental studies (mining effects, pollutions and waste disposals) and assessment of geo-hazards (earthquake, volcanoes, landslides) and their risks and mitigations.
  • To improve and manage GST human resources and working facilities.
  • To improve the quality of GST services and products.
  • To improve the market for GST products and services.
